VISITORS

Post by SYmywa »

HELLO,

A pair of friends and neighbors who also each, raised a new T-8 House /w SREH for
spring 2014, each had TS pair check-out an open compartment and start bringing
in nest material, so I offered to lower and close the T-8 and to set -up alternate housing
for the TS, which they accepted in a couple days, leaving the T-8 open for PM.
They have since reported having PM visitors around mid June and most recently an
ASY-M/SY-F checking compartments on July 19th and 20th.

Any other wanabee's having similar experiences :?:

Best O Luck to all, who are venturing into this "Special Hobby"! :)

Here in central Iowa I have a newbie, who happens to be the Polk county conservation office and member of my organization start a new public martin site. He had a few lookers but no takers this year.
Other than that, I try to get new people interested in martins with a mentor program. So far, so good.
Nest checks, supplement feeding and good landlord practices make for a healthy colony.

Hi Dave,

Good to here your Mentee had visitors, lets hope its Nesters next!
Best O Luck with your Mentor program. :D
I haven't hosted, Nesting PM yet, so I'm no Mentor, but we did have a
PM roost in the T-8 for nearly a month in 2014, /w other visitors stopping by.
Another friend /w a new T-8 hasn't reported any PM, but was having a
time IDing visitors. Am working on this one.
So I'm still sharing the passion /w most folks I encounter and hoping for more
interest, more PM visitors and founding pairs for our present, little group in NW MN. for
spring 2015.
Best of Luck to all, who are starting or adding to their site, for this Special Hobby!
Feel free to Swoop-in here and share your experiences, for the season! :)
