We don't have a Purple Martin banding program in North Dakota. We would be happy to collaborate with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, but this was something that I worked towards for four years and the effort never moved forward.

I use what I have on hand for my home site. Right now I am using certified weed-free straw. Yes, Cedar shavings and Cedar pet bedding are the same. ASY male flying over house and landed on the east lower hole. Weather today Sunny 57°F wind SE 6 mph.

I prefer the red cedar pet bedding, but have also used certified weed-free straw. The ideal material will shed water if it gets wet and it will dry quickly.
