Carol M. Stotler, Officer

Carol M. Stotler is a dedicated and passionate advocate for purple martins. Residing in Larimore, North Dakota, Carol has made significant contributions to her community through her tireless efforts in creating and maintaining suitable habitats for these remarkable birds.

Carol uses a sophisticated system involving SuperGourds, which are renowned for their durability and effectiveness in attracting purple martins. These gourds, made from UV-inhibited polyethylene, ensure longevity and provide a safe nesting environment for the birds. Her setup includes a fountain rack system featuring arched arms with left-, right-, or forward-pointing hanging bends. This system allows her to mount the SuperGourds on tall, sturdy poles equipped with a winch or pulley system, facilitating easy raising and lowering for regular maintenance and monitoring. Carol's attention to detail extends to using vent elbows in her SuperGourds for proper ventilation.

With over 21 years of experience in purple martin conservation, Carol's dedication to educating the community about the importance of supporting purple martin populations has fostered a greater appreciation for wildlife conservation in Larimore and beyond. Her innovative approaches and willingness to share her expertise have made her an invaluable asset to the Purple Martin Association of the Dakotas.
